Vote Andy
So one of the directors at SomeOne decided to use the one of Design Week's politics-related questions as a method
to get my name under the nose of the readers. On page 11 of this week's issue, surrounded by serious debates and opinions on design, is a photo of me wearing some red-hot shades at SomeOne's local, Casita.
I'm still on the lookout for a junior designer position in the UK, so hopefully this combined with the mailer I sent out
a few weeks ago will give me a headstart.

Mad Men
Only just started watching this programme but it's brilliant! All the details in the equipment and typography around the Sterling Cooper ad agency are stunning, and even though it's just a TV drama, it gives an interesting insight to the advertising scene in the 1960s. I never knew everyone smoked so much…

One Frame of Fame
A band from the Netherlands are making a music video using webcam images of people recreating footage of the band members, the project is called One Frame of Fame. I'm not sure if this has been done before or not but I think it's a great idea, and it's fun to see a few thousand fans imitating their dance moves.

Whilst I'm not busy I'm keeping my mind occupied by creating the branding for a café down the road from where I live. There's also a possibility of doing some work for the secondary school I attended, no specific details on the project yet but it sounds interesting!

Only just got round to watching Up, I love the detail in Pixar's films. If I have a mid-life crisis and fancy a career change, animation would be at the top of the list.

Hope you had a good Christmas – Basics Design: Format was under the 2-foot plastic Christmas tree this year, after a quick flick through I've added the rest of the series to my buy-list. I've just finished a 2-month placement with some lovely people at Love in Manchester, and I'm getting my portfolio updated before I start contacting a few more studios up north.
Hopefully I'll have found a job by this time next year…

Nicola Rowlands
When I was at the portfolio review for the placement at Love, one of the other designers I met was Nicola Rowlands, who's a great illustrator based in Manchester. Lots of her work is featured in various magazines, and she's recently been doing work for the BBC. She also has a blog over here.

Hello
I thought I'd start a blog-type thing on this website to share some inspiration and what I'm up to. I'll be on placement at Love Creative in Manchester until Christmas, and I'm hoping to work at a few more studios up north before I start figuring out where I want to be and what kind of studio I'd fit in the most at. For the moment I'm working up a few projects I've done whilst on placement in London, and an editorial to practice my layout work, so there should be some new projects online in the next few weeks. Check back soon!
